Okay, I’m about jumping out of my skin—or cloth, or whatever it is I’m made of.
That’s because all of you Friends of Eddie (FOEs), as well as those of you who may not know me as the lovable Real Time/Download Campaign mascot, are getting ready to party! Well, you’re getting ready to take part in the first-ever industry wide event focused on enhanced workflows and greater profits—and that’s worth celebrating.
By the way, in case you’re not aware of where the term “Friends of Eddie” came from, it was coined by my friend—and one of the best people in the whole wide world—Laura Mazzuca Toops, over at www.PropertyCasualty360.com. Laura wrote this great piece a month or so ago. Be sure to check it out.
Anyway, among the things taking place on Real Time Day are several live broadcasts from the ACORD studios in Pearl River, New York and a series of interactive and recorded webinars hosted by carriers, vendors, users groups and other friends and supporters throughout the day.
If you want to check out the goings-on from the studio, surf on over (I love saying that, especially in the winter), to www.acord.org, starting at 9:30 in the morning on Wednesday, February 29. To see schedule for the studio, as well as the latest listing of webinars targeting agents, brokers, carriers and others, click on the “Real Time Day Schedule” link at www.GetRealTime.org/RealTimeDay.
If you’re one of those Tweeting folks or followers, you can keep track Twitter posts for the day using the hashtag #RTEddie. I guess you’ll know what that means; for me, hash involves corned beef. Yum.
Oh, and I plan to update my Facebook page during the day, as well.
So be a part of something special. Join me and thousands of your fellow insurance professionals for Real Time Day. Real Time definitely is a leap worth taking!

First, I got a job—or a life. In 2007, I became the official face (get it, I’m a clock, with a face) of the industry-wide
I’m always on the lookout for news about insurance carriers expanding the availability of real-time functionality. I guess it’s in my blood—or whatever it is that feeds my brain. I love to hear about new capabilities, new carrier-vendor interface, and new lines of business that are real-time enabled for independent agents and brokers.
I recently spent some time wandering around YouTube, looking at insurance videos. Yeah, it was a pretty slow weekend. But I have to tell you, there’s some really funny stuff out there. Of course, there’s some pretty stupid stuff, as well.
